Psalm 42 is one of the many psalms that are a cry of lament for the situation the author finds themselves in. Making things worse is the sense of God's absence that the author feels. Like a deer panting for water in the desert, the author thirsts for the presence of God. Times of spiritual dryness or a sense of God's "silence" are the experience of many of God's people. Why would that be so? And what can we learn from the experience?
