We had the honor of interviewing Jess Dalliday from The Healthy Sweet Potato and Owner of Pilates on Demand Canada. We were first introduced to Jess via Nicola Rinaldi's (@noperiodnowwhat) Facebook community for women struggling with hypothalamic amenorrhea. Jess openly shares her inspirational journey through HA, TTC, pregnancy/postpartum, body image, starting a business, being a mom, and all the in-between on her personal blog and Instagram, @thehealthysweetpotato.
In this interview, Emma sat down with Jess to hear more details of her experience recovering from HA. Jess discusses the challenges of having to shift her lifestyle away from overexercising and undereating in order to recover her period in the hopes of conceiving. Along this road, she had to confront many of her beliefs about how these societally deemed, "healthy" behaviors, were actually detrimental to her health. After undergoing surgery to repair a uterine septum along with active HA recovery, Jess was successful in conceiving her daughter. All the while building a fitness business aimed to encourage women to love, respect, and nourish their bodies in all forms it may take.
Jess is a wealth of knowledge, inspiration, and honesty in this space so we highly recommend following her work. She shares so much important information on body image without all the photoshopped filters you often see online. You can find her personal work at www. thehealthysweetpotato.com and IG @thehealthysweetpotato. You can also find her amazing online pilates business www.pilatesondemand.ca and IG @pilatesondemandcanada.
