They believe that the point of Christianity is to judge people and condemn them for their sins. But the opposite is true. Jesus came into a world in which every man, woman, and child was already under the sentence of death. Whoever does not believe in Me, He says, “is condemned already” because he loved darkness rather than light before he ever heard of Me. That’s why we hide the bad things we’ve done and hope nobody finds out about them. Jesus did not come to judge men; He didn’t have to. The message of Christianity is that the Liberator has come, the One who grants us pardon and freedom in place of guilt and death. If you haven’t exchanged the filthy rags you were born in for the white robes of the righteousness of Christ, don’t wait another day.
