Episode Description: In this Dharma Talk on Chapter 5 of the Bodhicaryavatara, John Dunne suggests the guarding of meta-awareness, better aptly describes the practice Shantideva recommends. A non-dual awareness which is non-objectifying and quotidian. He provides us with helpful aphorisms from the text we can use for moments when we go astray. Ultimately, suffering comes down to the way we experience, not exactly what we’re experiencing. Benefiting others, working on one’s mind, and reappraising our assumptions of others are some of the important aspects of practice that allow us to get to the other side.
