Ahead of participation in the Melodifestivalen final, Tim is able to talk again to John Lundvik. He is participating in the song “Änglavakt”. He talks about the decision to sing in in English or Swedish, his excitement about potentially appearing again on the Eurovision stage, and his love for Barbara Pravi’s “Voila”!

The final of Melodifestivalen will take place on March 12. John will perform fourth in the running order, which can be found here. The results will be decided by a 50/50 split between the televote and international juries. It will take place at the Friends Arena in Stockholm.

John Lundvik made his debut in Melodifestivalen in 2018 with his song “My Turn”, finishing third. He competed again in 2019 with the song “Too Late for Love”, winning the contest. At the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, he finished 5th with 334 points. The song charted across Europe. Lundvik is also a prolific songwriter, and has written Mello entries (Anton Ewald’s “Natural”, 2014) and other Eurovision songs (UK 2019).

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).

In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
