Episode 1: The Col d'Èze is not the hardest climb in the world. It's not particularly long, or steep, but it is steeped in cycling's history because for many years it was the final battleground for Paris-Nice.

The race used to conclude with a Sunday afternoon time trial on the hill and in the 1980s the Irish dominated, with Stephen Roche and Sean Kelly sharing the victories between 1981 and 1989.

In this episode, we hear from Kelly, who also gives Lionel some tips on how to ride the hill.

And, with the Tour starting in the south east of France for the first time since 2009, we look back at the race with Bradley Wiggins, who made his breakthrough as a grand tour challenger that summer.
