On this episode of the Hayek Program Podcast, we continue a series of lectures on topics in economic sociology, recorded in the fall academic semester of 2020 and hosted by Peter Boettke. He is joined in this episode by Jayme Lemke as they discuss the importance of being a "big-picture" economist rather than a strictly technical one. We'll hear how disconnecting the scientific method from the human element in economics can be counterproductive and why "cleverness" in the social sciences often obscures the value of taking a more humble, inquisitive approach to study. Jayme Lemke also shares some of her insights from her research on women's rights and also highlights the unique ways in which her days as a musician aided her in becoming a better academic.
