On Friday, March 5, State Representatives convened to debate a several bills on the floor, one of them was house bill 1099, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Washington by proposing changes to the state’s growth management act.The growth management act (or gma) is a series of state statutes adopted in 1990, that requires cities and counties to develop a comprehensive plan to manage population growth. The bill specifically requires the addition of addressing climate change to one of the goals in the state’s gma.
