Ear H was by far the most important AA speaker during those dark night of the soul years. I was able to call him on the phone and we chatted for a few minutes. He understood loneliness, hopelessness, spiritual isolation, and rage. If I ever felt like I was too broken (which was daily if not hourly), I could listen to Earl and know that I wasn't.
