Sermon Podcast - “Mary: When Life Gets a Little Messy. (Luke 1:26-38)” Christmas is a neat time of year where we experience joy, peace and generosity as we remember the birth of Jesus. But Christmas can also be a messy time of year. The roads can get messy from bad weather, our schedules can get messy with too many holiday parties and gatherings. On top of all that, our eating can get messy with the abundance of candy and sweets, and sometimes our attitudes can get messy from spending too much ‘quality time’ with our family. In the book of Luke we read stories of people who’s lives got a little ‘messy’ because of the birth of Jesus. In this sermon we hear the story of the angel Gabriel coming to Mary to announce her pregnancy. The birth of Jesus will create a messy situation for her. We learn from Mary how to look for new opportunities and grow in faith in times that feel like a mess.
