LLP#062 - Searching for Peace & Finding the Magic in Conflicts with Abang Rahino Part 1
Have you learned something new today? Life is, after all, a series of fortunate and unfortunate learnings. Wouldn’t you agree? In this episode, we have a special guest to learn from. Abang Rahino, or Mas Rino is the youngest of eight children born through the marriage of two prominent Indonesian artists and activists, S. Sudjojono and Mia Bustam, whose works are known nationally and internationally in the 1950s and 60’s. That might sound like it's a really long time ago and not so relatable. But we found Mas Rino’s story to be nothing short of fascinating, giving us insights to how life was like in Indonesia during that troubled period. We get peak into his life as the youngest child of very politically and creatively outspoken and involved parents, and how that kind of involvement affected their marriage and family dynamics to the point of having extramarital affairs and eventually divorce. What was Mas Rino’s felt experience, as a child, having to witness his mother being forcefully taken away from him, and for them to have to almost forget about each other for years? There's just so much to unpack in Mas Rino's story, and we hope that you will listen to the entire story. But for now, this is part one. Enjoy.
