Local businesses say Great Barrier Island has had more flights arriving in the last month than the previous ten months combined.

Business owners have teamed up to offer package deals for holiday-makers looking to stay local during the school holidays.

The boom has been welcome respite for the island following the economic impact of Covid-19.
