After completing Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, Andrea Davies takes a  position at a large New York Advertising Firm, admittedly there to find a husband and secure a life as a well-to-do, country club socialite. Andrea meets Richard Hayes, one of the firm's partners and an inexplicable attraction takes hold. To everyone Richard is the kind and respectful executive with tragic home life. He is the devoted husband to Margaret, a dangerous "lunatic" who is in and out of psychiatric hospitals. A passionate attraction between Richard and Andrea  intensifies when she is promoted to his secretary. When Andrea turns her attention to another marriage prospect, Richard quickly reveals a sinister, unpredictable side that naive Andrea interprets as unbridled passion, fueling her romantic delusions of "love at any cost."The Diarist, explores the darker side of the human psyche and the terrifying consequences of indulging in base desires in 1950s America. On tonight's Holy Crowley Hour, we totally ignore Thanksgiving and celebrate a great local podcast, The Diarist, a multi-episode, serialized podcast set in 1950s New York City. The lead character, Andrea Davies, is a young secretary described in the first episode as “a fish surrounded by sharks”.

Our guests are the creative team behind the series -- creator/producer/co-director Donna Barrow-Green. actress/co-producer/co-director Beth Ricketson, and lead actor/co-producer Ryan Bowen. We’ll talk about audio podcasts and The Diarist first, especially in light of the #MeToo movement, and then play Episode One for you, in its entirety.

She's found an unoccupied storage room in the basement of her apartment building. She ventures into a grave to read the words of a dead woman. Andrea is plagued by one thought. "I'm not Margaret." She always corrects herself. "I'm not Margaret...yet."
