Michal Coombs works and is a PhD student at Rocky Mountain University. For her dissertation, she is exploring how trail/ultrarunning impacts the runner’s sense of self-efficacy and empowerment. She thinks the most romantic gesture her husband has given her is the race cards he makes for every trail race she’s done (he has the course map/elevation on one side and aid stations, mileage between aid stations, terrain description, and time of day I’d have to be at each aid station for A, B, or C time goals).
