BioNTech SE rose +6.24% after China approved the biotechnology company's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine for use among the expatriate population in the People's Republic of China. During German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to Beijing, he and Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, also broached the subject of a pathway for approval of the vaccine for use among the wider Chinese population, The Wall Street Journal reported. Separately, BioNTech and partner Pfizer Inc (up +1.40%) said new data from a Phase 2/3 trial showed that the booster for companies' omicron BA.4/BA.5-adapted bivalent COVID-19 vaccine demonstrated a "robust neutralizing immune response" after one month.
