Hundreds of pagers blew up at approximately the same time across Lebanon on Tuesday (Sept 17), killing at least nine people and wounding more than 2,700. Speaking on condition of anonymity, a Hezbollah official says this detonation of the pagers is the "biggest security breach" the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of conflict with Israel.

On the topic of security, back at home here in Singapore, about 2,500 visitors are refused entry at our checkpoints every month - a figure was revealed by Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam in Parliament, in the wake of the case involving Bangladeshi extremist preacher Amir Hamza, who entered Singapore illegally using a passport with a different name.
