In our third episode of Motherhood Confessions we're anonymously interviewing one of our amazing American listeners who has shared her experience of birth and parenting in the USA.
This week's Mum tells us about the challenges she faced birthing in the American system, being frequently dismissed by medical staff and receiving limited support postpartum. This led to postpartum depression, anxiety and rage.
During her pregnancy, she contracted Covid requiring hospitalisation. After her short stay in hospital she was hit with a $20,000 bill. Her little one had colic and was often crying for hours on end. While navigating these challenging circumstances, this Mum was connected to a Doula who gave her incredible support and helped her through this period.
