In Part I, designers Brandon Schaefer and Sam Smith comment on trends in 80’s poster design, titles, typography, and branding, holding both photo-based designs and richly illustrated painted works on the same playing field as pieces of key art worthy of both nostalgic remembrance and fresh objectivity.
