I’ll never forget the time my daughter Sadie saw a picture of my dad when he was my age. She pointed to the picture and said, “Look Daddy! That’s you!” “No, actually that’s my daddy.” I said. And I tried to explain to her that my dad, Grandpa, was actually at one time my age, as a younger man. But Sadie wouldn’t believe it. And you know, this got me thinking: I felt really proud to be mistaken for my dad. He is a godly man filled with humility, and he has taught me more about a relationship with Jesus than anyone I know.

In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul says, “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.” In other words, we are to follow the example of godly men and women before us, and we are to set good examples for our children. Not just examples of how to behave or treat others, but how to have a vibrant relationship with Jesus.

This week, you can reach your world by imitating the godly men and women in your life.  They did it – you can do it.  And it’s all the Holy Spirit anyway. Model for your children what it means to love Jesus. Their lives will be eternally impacted by your love of Christ.
