Surf Report - New Jersey Shore areas

New Jersey and Delaware Surf Report for 04-17-2025

Listen Later

Surf's up coastal crew! The National Weather Service is bringing the lowdown on today's beach conditions across New Jersey and Delaware.

As we wrap up the 2024 surf forecast season, we're looking at a moderate rip current risk along the entire coastline. Surfers and swimmers listen up - those northeast winds are cranking around 15 to 20 miles per hour, creating some tricky water conditions.

Wave riders can expect consistent 2 to 3 foot surf across all beaches from Sandy Hook down to Cape May and over to Rehoboth. Water temperatures are ranging from the lower 60s to upper 60s, so you'll want that light wetsuit if you're planning to catch some waves.

The sky's playing it cool with mostly cloudy conditions and just a slight chance of rain in some areas. UV index is sitting at moderate, so sunscreen is still your friend even with the cloud cover. Temperatures will hover in the upper 60s to lower 70s - not bad for a late September day.

Tide schedules are looking pretty consistent. If you're planning your beach day, check your local tide chart. For instance, Belmar's high tide hits at 6:25 AM, while Cape May's peaks at 7:17 AM.

Quick safety reminder - those rip currents are no joke. Even with moderate risk, stay alert near jetties, piers, and rocky areas. Life jackets and situational awareness are your best beach buddies today.

One last call - this is the final surf zone forecast for the 2024 season. Time to soak up those last moments of coastal magic before autumn fully takes hold. Stay stoked and stay safe out there!
