Hour 3 -
Welcome to Tuesday! Here's what Nick Reed covers this hour:
- Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent reportedly threatened to punch Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte during a dinner event with senior administration officials.
- Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell said on Monday that the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol belongs in the same category as the nation’s darkest days—Pearl Harbor and 9/11.
- Former mayor McCheese will be inducted into the Springfield Public Schools' 2025 Hall of Fame.
- Springfield City Council held a retreat to establish priorities for implementing the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan.
- The council members talked about crime and said that crime itself is not a large problem as much as the public perception that Springfield sees high rates of crime. Council members are proposing a police-community liaison who can follow up on crimes residents observe and increasing collaboration with community partners and organizations to address societal issues like homelessness and drug addiction that can contribute to the perception of high crime.
