In 2019, Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs was found dead in his Texas hotel room just hours before a game. The 27-year-old rising star had fentanyl, oxycodone, and alcohol in his system — a combination that cost him his life. Investigators traced the pills back to Eric Kay, the team’s communications director who had been supplying players with opioids for years. But Tyler’s family says the problem goes much deeper than one dealer…they believe the Angels organization failed to protect him. As the criminal case ended with Kay’s 20-year sentence, Katie investigates a new battle that began in civil court. Tyler’s parents argue that team leadership turned a blind eye to the drug culture inside the clubhouse and bear responsibility for their son’s death.
