No funding application has yet been made to progress the Strandhill Public Realm Enhancement Project.

The project which has been given the green light, received some backlash earlier this year, after it emerged that part of the plan includes reducing car parking spaces along the Shore Front.

Spaces will however be increased in the upper car park to compensate for the loss at the Shore Front.

Sligo County Council has confirmed that while no application has been made, it does fully intend to apply once the specific fund reopens.

But Fianna Fáil Cllr Tom MacSharry is still adamant that the project should not move forward in its current form:
