Monday November 3, 2025XXI After PentecostIn today’s readings, we see the sobering consequences of rebellion, the call to holiness in a compromised world, and the authority of Jesus over darkness itself.📖 2 Kings 21:1–18 tells the tragic story of King Manasseh — a ruler who turned from the Lord and led Judah into deep idolatry. He rebuilt the altars his father Hezekiah destroyed, worshiped false gods, and even desecrated the temple. His legacy is a warning: when a heart drifts from God, the nation soon follows. Yet even in judgment, God’s mercy still calls His people to repentance.📖 1 Corinthians 10:14–11:1 reminds believers to flee idolatry and live for the glory of God in all things. Paul calls us to discern the Lord’s table rightly — to recognize that fellowship with Christ leaves no room for divided loyalties. “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”📖 Matthew 8:28–34 shows Jesus confronting a legion of demons — a vivid picture of His power over the forces of evil. Where others saw hopelessness and fear, Jesus brought deliverance and restoration. Even the darkest strongholds cannot stand before His authority.Together, these passages remind us that God alone deserves our worship, our allegiance, and our lives. In a world full of idols and spiritual battles, we are called to be fully devoted followers of the One who reigns over all.
