Publisher's Summary:
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle: A precious stone with a history of murders and violence behind it is discovered in the crop of a Christmas goose after being reported stolen yet again, from its owner's jewel case, and the guilt is placed upon a plumber who protests his innocence.
The Adventure of the Speckled Band: Sherlock Holmes investigates when a young woman's twin sister is mysteriously murdered in her locked bedroom, leaving in her dying words the only clue with which to begin: "band" and "speckled".
The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb: Hydraulic engineer Victor Hatherley arrives at 221-B in a state of hysteria, his thumb grossly amputated from his left hand. The Baker Street duo's foray into the case leads to characters and machinations even stranger and more threatening than the case's grotesque genesis.
The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor: The groom loses his bride ten minutes after the wedding, and Sherlock Holmes has to find her.
The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet: A banker accepts a priceless British artifact as collateral for a loan and it is promptly stolen from his home's safe. Circumstances point to the banker's son, who bitterly denies taking it. Holmes allows his investigation to follow the trail of evidence, come what may.
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches: When a young governess, unemployed and desperate for a position, accepts a job with a couple living in a remote country home, her positive first impressions of the man and his family begin to change. With a mixture of fear and uncertainty, she asks Sherlock Holmes to investigate the increasingly disturbing events that have begun to unfold around her.
Critic Reviews:
"The most incredible one-person audio you have heard. Has to be heard to be believed. David Ian Davies creates theatre in a book." (Charles Prepolec, one of the most respected Sherlockians)
Members Reviews:
A remarkable achievement
In recording all of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tales of Sherlock Holmes, David Ian Davies has achieved something truly remarkable. To portray a single character is challenge enough. The versatile Mr Davies portrays dozens (perhaps hundreds - I haven't counted them) and makes every one distinct. At times it really is hard to believe that we're listening to just One Voice. These are more than just readings: they are fully developed performances. If you enjoy these grand tales from "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes", well, One Voice has plenty more!
