02.04.2016 - By Ideas By Elliot
Inspired by the WBAY interview today, Nic and Elliot have a brief discussion about online safety for kids.
For parental controls at home, check out the NETGEAR Nighthawk or other higher-end Wi-Fi Routers.
iOS Parental Control services like NetSanity can be helpful too - though they come with recurring charges.
Finally, take advantage of the iOS Parental Controls built-in on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices. These are found in Settings > General > Restrictions. There are tons of settings, but particularly you want to make certain to disable In-App Purchases and Installing Apps. Then, you also want to make certain to check out all friends lists from time to time in different social, communication, and chat apps.
These are the popular ones you may want to discuss with your child - click through to find me on those services:
Twitter (which can include Twitter "Apps" like Tweetbot or Twitterific)
If you have questions, please feel free to contact me! We would be happy to do a follow-up show covering the questions!
