This week, I am joined by Mary Bowen. She shares the emotional story of her experiences parenting children who have struggled with addiction. We discuss the importance of ARP (Addiction Recovery Programs) and also:
• Recognizing that your children have their own agency and that “right” or “wrong” parenting does not necessarily dictate where their lives go.
• The simple fact that contention and the spirit cannot coincide; problems can be addressed and boundaries can be established without anger.
• How important it is to let go of a wayward child and let them face the consequences of their actions. The only real power we have is to simply love them unconditionally.
• How important it is to maintain faith and trust that although we do not know the beginning from the end, Heavenly Father does.
