Axel Voss is a German politician for the Christian Democratic Union in the European Parliament since 2009. Since 2017, he has been the Coordinator of the European People’s Party group in the Committee of Legal Affairs. This also reflects his background as a graduate of the University of Trier in International and European Law. He assisted in the UN Department of the Technical Corporation for Development in New York. Further, he is no stranger to the beautiful Rhine Valley, having finished a traineeship at the Supreme Court of Provincial Appeal in Koblenz. Afterward, he started working as a lawyer before joining the regional Commission Representation in Bonn, as well as teaching European Affairs at the University of Applied Science Koblenz. Mr Voss is an expert on data protection. In our talk with Mr Voss, we focus on his political work in this special field, his view on the geopolitical tensions with a special focus on the digital landscape, and how his party can better connect with young people.
