Princesses: Long Island's Amanda Bertoncini steps Behind The Rope. Amanda Bertoncini is here to tell it all. Princesses: Long Island. Where to begin? Amanda explains how the concept for the show came about, how it was “cast” and how it ultimately found its way, after a brief journey, to Bravo as it's home. Amanda explains what growing up on Long Island’s North Shore was really like and why the timing for a show like Princesses: Long Island seemed right. Amanda discusses the concept of the show, a series of young women out of college for a short period of time who end up living back with their parents in well to do enclaves of Long Island, New York. We discuss the difference between how the show was marketed, portrayed and perceived as a series of rich young entitled Long Islanders versus the reality of the struggles, both financially and emotionally, most of the cast were facing on and off camera in real life. Amanda also opens up about how hard it is to film a reality show with a bunch of other woman with similar personalities and how it is almost impossible for many of those friendships to survive the strains of Reality TV. Yes, Amanda had drama with many of her cast mates before, during and after the filming of Princesses. No discussion of Princesses: Long Island would be complete without the origins of the shows' name and how Amanda and the rest of the cast felt when they were told this would be the name of the series. We discuss how and why, despite Bravo being the perfect home for this show, it was cancelled after just one short season due in large part to the public outcry of the negative stereotypes the show portrayed of Jewish Women. Amanda and David discuss why they think it will always live on as one of the classic Bravo favorites of all time. Finally, back in a simpler BravoVerse, Bravolebrities had more direct access to “Boss Man” Andy Cohen, and we needed ALL of Amanda’s first hand experiences with the man, the myth, the legend. Of course, there is also that time her appearance on Watch What Happens Live was cancelled! Yup, true story. Tune in now.
