In this episode of That Engineering Chat EDS takeover, Nicole chats to Professor Rab Scott, the head of digital at AMRC. AMRC is part of the University of Sheffield and is a world-leading research and innovation centre. Rab has come to chat to Nicole after his talk on the future of manufacturing, which focussed on what comes next after Industry Four. Nicole and Rab talk about the pillars of sustainability and how these must be considered in the next steps of the manufacturing industry. Rab also shares how data is an enabler and should be shared between companies, but equally, there are many challenges to this that need to be addressed. He also shares that Industry Five will be resilient and sustainability-focused, but also human-centric. This means that although job roles will change, they will not be replaced by automation and there is scope for the creation of more job roles with people coming from varying demographics.
