Today’s Scripture:

15 The way of foolish people seems right to them.    But those who are wise listen to advice.

16 Foolish people are easily upset.    But wise people pay no attention to hurtful words.

17 An honest witness tells the truth.    But a dishonest witness tells lies.

18 The words of thoughtless people cut like swords.    But the tongue of wise people brings healing.

19 Truthful words last forever.    But lies last for only a moment.

20 There are lies in the hearts of those who plan evil.    But there is joy for those who work to bring peace.

21 No harm comes to godly people.    But sinners have all the trouble they can handle.

22 The Lord hates those whose lips tell lies.    But he is pleased with people who tell the truth.

23 Wise people keep their knowledge to themselves.    But the hearts of foolish people shout foolish things.

24 Hands that work hard will rule.    But people who are lazy will be forced to work.

25 Worry makes the heart heavy.    But a kind word cheers it up.

26 Godly people are careful about the friends they choose.    But the way of sinners leads them down the wrong path.

27 Lazy people do not even cook what they catch.    But those who work hard eat their fill of what is hunted.

28 There is life in doing what is right.    Along that path you will never die.

Prayer Transcript:

Lord Jesus, thank you for another day. Thank you for the breath in our lungs. Thank you for sunshine and grass, flowers, sunshine, family, animals and life and all the things You have given us, we are grateful for You. Help us to be these folks who listen to your advice. Help us not to become easily upset. Help us, this passage talks a lot about the truth, Lord, so I’m going to camp there in this prayer. We want  to be an honest witness, we want to tell the truth. Show us those places we are telling white lies or not so white lies but actually blatant lies. Convict us Lord, we give you permission to convict us when we are bending the truth. Lord, we understand that there is power in our tongue and we have experience, verse 18 “The words of thoughtless people cut like swords, but the tongue of wise people bring healing. Lord, we want to be the latter, not the former, we don’t want to cut people like swords with our tongues, we don’t want to be thoughtless people, we want to bring healing with our words so we pray for 2 things:

The first, that you would salve the wound of a relationship hurt today, one that has been cutting like a sword that has broken our hearts, Lord I pray for healing, I pray for  further light, I pray for an ability to forgive, that maybe we didn’t even have yesterday Lord or maybe a way to have compassion on someone who has acted like an enemy in our lives. Lord, as I pray before, folks like that would not become an enemy in our minds but a cautionary tale and that we would make that a determination through the power of Your Holy Spirit, not to treat others the way that we have been treated. It’s kind of the “Golden Rule” in reverse. We want to have tongues that bring healing, we want to be wise people. Your word says that truthful words will last forever and that’s what we long for, whether we say it or speak it or write it. We want to be people of the truth. Lord you say there is joy for those who work to bring peace. Lord, would You make us ministers of reconciliation. I Know that Your word in Romans says, as far as it depend on you, be at peace with all men and we will do everything that we can on our side,
