In this Bible study we looked at the Parable of the Publican and the Pharisee. Christ gives us a picture of two very different hearts standing in the same holy place. One man only saw himself and told God how good he was. The other man saw the truth about his life, bowed his head, and begged for mercy. Only one of them went home healed. This is the path the Church calls us to walk. Humility is not weakness. It is seeing reality with clear eyes and asking God to help us change.
We also talked about how this parable shapes the way we speak to others. Pride makes us want to win arguments. Humility makes us want to love people. So much harm happens online because we act like the Pharisee. We want to be right more than we want to bring others to Christ. But no one is argued into the Church. People come because they see peace, truth, and love lived out. They come because someone invited them just as they are.
Our goal is simple. Pray like the Publican. Live with humility. Invite others to come and see what God can do. When we choose this path, Christ does the rest.
