It's the day after the election and Steve begins by being joined by C.J. Szafir from the Institute for Reforming Government. Steve asks him to describe last night’s results. C.J. says it was good for Trump supported candidates in the Fox Valley but not election deniers like Tim Ramthun. Obviously, the big win was Wisconsinites voting against the referenda that would have given spending power to the state legislature. C.J. it really came down to the money. In the end, the governor and legislature will have to communicate and work together.
– Steve next asks C.J. about what he thinks the biggest issues were for voters ahead of the general election. C.J. brings up a survey IRG did recently, and the economy was the big issue that he believes will win the election. Steve and C.J. also discuss runner-up issues like immigration and abortion.
Steve gives some of his own thoughts on the election and the Wisconsin constitution.
Steve Scaffidi is next joined by Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler for his reaction from last night’s election. Steve asks Ben for his thoughts on how the new maps may have helped Democrats in Wisconsin. Steve also asks him about what yesterday’s turnout and then Ben’s connection died.
Reunited and it feels so good: Bill McCoshen and Joe Zepecki join Steve on the phone to talk about the election last night. Joe was happy with the turnout and hopes it’s a sign of things to come and Bill calls it a big win for Robin Vos. Bill also says Washington County had a very red turnout.
Steve shares closing thoughts on the election and the loss for election deniers. And sending a message with one’s vote.
