This week’s guest has struggled with his weight for his entire life. Food obsession and morbid obesity was his norm. He spent most of his life alternating between short periods of dieting and gluttonous excess. In 2013, he managed to get to an all-time low of 210lbs; down from 540lbs. However, within 6 months, he had regained almost 300 pounds. He struggled to find a way to reach his weight loss goals and break free from the cycles of food addiction that dominated his life. In 2017, he decided that he needed to try again. He finally realized that the missing piece in everything was losing focus on his desire to stay alive and to fight for his health. He had done research, and the keto diet seemed most in line with his needs and with the good whole foods that he loved to eat. He started the keto diet in February of that year at 470lbs, and today, just over 2 years later, he is at about 216lbs. The magic of his way of life now is not weight loss, but the true sense of control over food and his body that this diet has given him. He is no longer a slave to his appetite. He instead feels hopeful that he is building a life that revolves on far more than his next meal. Today we will discuss the multifaceted approach that he NEEDED to take to finally regain control over his thoughts, his decisions, and his overall health. Welcome to the show, Mike Gorman, aka Gormy!
