Let’s take a real look at The Danvers Statement. The Danvers Statement was written in the 1980’s mostly by a consortium of men who were concerned that women were getting human rights, entering the work force, and gaining positions of leadership in the church. Patriarchy was in a freefall as women arose to exercise their rights as equal children of God. The Danvers Statement then made the excuse that a “Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood” needed to be instituted to promote the return of patriarchy in the rule of men as God (that Complementarians who follow Paul consider “biblical”).
