We’ve discussed many times on the show how there is a lack of black representation in movies and TV shows. But did you know that there is also a lack of representation in children’s literature? Black characters are rarely depicted in children’s books despite the fact that such representation could provide these kids with role models and validate their life experiences.  So, what is being done to increase black representation in kids' books? I mean, how much can my environment actually impact my happiness? Well, according to a new study, maybe more than we thought. By looking at several different aspects of our environment, a group of psychologists found and ranked the happiest states in the country. What are the secret ingredients to these states’ happiness? It’s important to give your child the time and space to calm down and regain emotional control—enter the “timeout”.
