Democrats had a full sweepin Virginia as Abigail Spanberger won the gubernatorial election, bringing Jay Jones as Attorney General and Ghazala Hashmi as Virginia's Lieutenant Governor. Democrat Mikie Sherrill won in New Jersey and Socialist Zohran Mamdani is now Mayor-elect in New York City. At day 36, we are now in the longest government shutdown in history as President Trump urges Republicans to use the 'nuclear' option. As the Republican party frays over personalities like Nick Fuentes, the Democrats have unified in their messaging and assemblance. While their policies have created a situation like New York, while 64% percent foreign-born New Yorkers voted for Mamdani, what lies beneath is much more frightening. While Capitalism has created the richest nation in history, it has also created tremendous wealth disparities and no one feels this more than Gen-Z. Zoomers that voted for Donald Trump were only spilt 44% - 43% on Socialism. Gen-z sees an unaffordable future, a battle of the sexes, and high incidents of mental health. They look at a system that has failed them and have a 'burn it all down' attitude. Democratic-Socialism is appealing to younger voters and Zohran Mamdani is the embodiment of this. Therefore, it is up to Republicans to coalesce with substantive messaging and strong leadership that can carry us into the future.
