Every state constitution requires a system of public schools. But neither the U.S. Constitution nor any state constitution guarantees a child the right to be educated.
That gap matters.
Because when you look at how we actually spend money, what we prioritize, and what policymakers choose to focus on, the goal doesn’t seem to be learning — it seems to be maintaining a system.
In this video, I walk through how we got here, what changed, and why that missing “right” might be more important than we think.
If we want a functioning democracy, we need an educated population.
And right now, we’re not acting like that matters.
