ABOUT OUR GUEST
Hilary Katz received her Master’s in Social Work in 1999 from Simmons College School of Social Work. For over 20 years, Hilary has provided individual, group, couples and family therapy in both school and private practice settings. Hilary has contributed throughout the years to newspapers, family magazines and college zines and blogs as well as offered her expertise for news and tv outlets in the tristate area. Hilary also has provided and continues to provide workshops on communicating and collaborating with children to educators, parents/caretakers, and organizations that work with children outside of the school system. Hilary pulls from the philosophy that both children as well as adults do well if they can and uses the Cognitive Behavioral model to learn how to do better and feel better. Hilary stresses that life is full of tricky spots and if a person is struggling it certainly is not because they want to. Hilary’s main goal with all her clients is to learn how to identify their lagging skills that cause them to get stuck and ultimately strengthen them in order to grow and live a more productive, fulfilling life. Hilary is known to push her clients to understand the value of getting uncomfortable in order to grow, but she also utilizes the power of humor as well as creativity to teach and reinforce developing skills.
