Reverend Angel Kyodo Williams, Roshi, talks about the importance of approaching practice, Lojong and otherwise, as actual practice rather than mere intellectual speculation or performance. To this end, she substitutes the traditional Lojong “slogans” with Lojong “trainings,” empathizing that these teachings are meant to be engaged in our daily lives, not merely verbalized. Lojong mind training, Rev. Angel explains, functions as one framework amongst many that, when practiced, creates the conditions for liberation.
