Phoenix Rising achieve their first win in their quest for the (Open) Cup with a dominant, yet nervy, 1-0 win against Greenville Triumph.

Rising scored in the 21st minute after a nice pass sequence, that saw all but two Rising players touch the ball, was capped off with Baboucarr Njie finding Carlos Harvey at the back post to head it home.

While Greenville certainly had their chances and forced goalkeeper Patrick Rakovsky into some timely saves, it was Rising who ultimately could not capitalize on their chances to further cement their lead.

Yet in the end, Rising did enough to overpower the League One side. As the team awaits their third round draw in this storied competition, they will turn their attention to Sunday’s fixture as the team travels South to take on Birmingham Legion.
