* These verses talk about our new nature.

* What would you think of a lion cowering before a house cat?

* What about a bear running away from a squirrel?

* Animals act according to their nature.

* Christians have two natures - the sinful nature and the spiritual nature.

* The spiritual nature is more powerful, and they are constantly at war.

* The one that wins is the one we feed.

* We feed the sinful nature through selfishness.

* We feed the spiritual nature through self-control (obedience).

* How do we do this? Two ways:

* 1) Consider your new identity (vs 7-11) - know who you are.

* 2) Act like it (vs 12-14) - even if you don’t feel like it.

* In time your brain will catch up and you’ll begin to feel free.

* A proper thinking free man would never go back into slavery.
