During our conversation, Michael talked about the kinds of stories he likes to tell, how he got into film, and if getting “big” is the only way to determine success.

We also talked about how telling sincere stories is valued in media today. For Michael, dark themes are one of the most sincere ways to tell a story. Even dark themes equate to having an open heart and being open to feeling.

For Michael, making mistakes actually brings him hope, because it means he is going to learn something and find a way to keep moving forward.
