Hello and welcome to The Captain’s Coach Podcast everyone. We have a great one lined up for you today. If you are a regular listener you have probably heard me reference The Captain Class numerous times. It is one of the main inspirations for The Captain’s Coach and one of the books I most often recommend to friends and co workers. I was lucky enough to sit down with the author of The Captain Class, Sam Walker, earlier today and discuss his book and some of the surprising insights he has gained from it. As you will hear shortly, Sam spent years dedicated to researching and writing this book and had an extremely methodical way of coming to his conclusions. During the conversation we talk about the importance of team captains and why most people miss that importance, why the mainstream image of a great captain and leader is far from reality, the faulty obsession with the personalities of leaders and the lack of focus on behavior, the three most important behaviors of captains, and his advice for captains and coaches who are trying to make fundamental changes to their programs. If you want to learn more about Sam and his work his website is bysamwalker.com and you can follow him on Twitter @samwalkers and of course go get yourself a copy of The Captain Class. Now sit back and enjoy the conversation and insights on another episode The Captain’s Coach Podcast.
