This week in the Come, Follow Me program for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are discussing sections 64-66. Section 64 is a revelation to the elders who were still dealing with the fallout from the contentious journey on the waters from last week. Section 65 is called a revelation on prayer, though I did find a quote from Joseph that said, “In the fore part of October, I received the following prayer through revelation” (History of the Church, 1:218). It’s an interesting exercise to reread that short section and see in what ways the verses are similar to and different from a prayer, and why Joseph might call it that. Section 66 returns us to William McLellin, whom we met in section 1. After this week and next, which talk about the events that immediately preceded the receiving of section 1, I suggest going back and listening to that episode again because it will help give you a fuller understanding of the man and his role in that story.
