Reflecting on Resurrection South Austin's 10th anniversary, Father Shawn explores Jesus' sending of the 72 disciples with nothing but faith and God's provision. Drawing from his own family's leap of faith in moving from California to start this church, he challenges the congregation to consider how we pursue God's mission - not through worldly means of power, possessions, or strategic planning, but through radical dependence on God's ways. He examines the tension between effectiveness and faithfulness, warning against the temptation to compromise the gospel message for comfort, growth, or to avoid upsetting the powerful. The sermon calls the church community to continue "traveling light" with Jesus, pursuing both the aims and the means of God's kingdom as they announce God's peace and healing to their South Austin neighbors.
