This is a very important question because in this age of media and marketing, being seen in inevitable. What people are seeing and how they relate to you is the real question.
Image is everything, however, an inauthentic image is not going to gain you ground in any way that will allow you longevity. Imagine being stuck in an image you don't relate to? If you don't relate to it, your customers or clients won't either ultimately, and this will cost you in closed business and a very real sense. This is not to say that you won't build your business, it is to say that the business you build may not be the one you enjoy!
It is way to easy these days to feel like you have to project certain images of yourself and your business to be part of the "mainstream" but the truth is that the more you feel like everyone else the more appear like everyone else and the very thing you desire - to stand out - doesn't happen. It takes courage and the best move you can make is to know yourself and become crystal clear on what you stand for and believe in. That is the image you want to project.
Allowing people to see the real you, does not mean having to expose your personal life unless your business and brand is specific to that, and even then you want to filter what you project. It does mean that you are putting your best foot forward in showing the virtual world marketplace who you are and what you stand for.
