The Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4)is:1. Cry of allegiance (profession of faith)2. Affirmation of covenant commitment (Ten Words)3. In response to the question "Who is the GOD of Israel?"The Shema is an identity statement about the Creator-GOD that demonstrates His oneness as being particular (Israel) and universal (Nations). If only Jews worship the one true GOD or if Gentiles have to become Jewish, then He is only the GOD of Israel (Romans 3:29-30). However, when both Israel and the Nations give their allegiance to King Yeshua as Jews and Gentiles in unity, we will reflect His Oneness. In that day the LORD will be One and His Name One. (Zechariah 14:9).
