Should workers support a workers' party? And can a workers' party succeed politically?

We are now in conversation with Numsa's national spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola, to talk about the performance of the trade union's Socialist Revolutionary Workers' Party (SRWP), in this year's elections. The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa, which is the country's largest trade union, contested the elections nationally, in all nine provinces. Numsa was expelled from the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in November 2014 for refusing to back the ANC in the general elections. The Socialist Revolutionary Workers' Party performed poorly in the elections with a low number of votes, this despite the massive membership of its parent union, Numsa. This morning we are asking you should workers support a workers' party. And can a workers' party succeed politically?
