Welcome back to another episode! Today is really special because I'm bringing my sister Jamie on the show. Jamie and I are super close and she has been my general manager t the studio for the last 11 years. Jamie is not a podcaster but I'm so happy she said yes to doing this! Hear us talk about if you should work with family members, building a team and systems and if it's a good idea. "Am I hiring someone just because she's my sister?..." At minute 3:21, we are diving right into what kind of experience Jamie had, where she was and when she started working for me. were there any doubts, what was she thinking and if she was nervous to work with family. Hear a big perk of working with family and how Jamie adjusted to the idea of always bringing work home, how the beginning was stressful and how to make room for people who have always been there. "I go to her for help and sometimes it's just not the answer I'm looking for..." At 18:30, the hardest parts of working with family hear why I'm not proud of the way I react sometimes and how I've had to let go of a lot things. The biggest thing Jamie has realized in the business plus we're talking about personalities in business. "I want our people who are working for us, to know I am listening to what they're saying ..." At minute 38:02 things I've learned and the hard things to be aware of while working as family not coworkers and how Jamie feels its hard to defend me as a sister to other employees. How I've stepped away from being the intense visionary Im used to for the studio and we're also talking about innovating staying on top of new things and why Jamie wants to go to more conferences now. is she ok not owning part of the studio. "You have to decide who's in charge of what and let them own that specific thing..." At 55:33, we're talking about the perks of working with your family and why we think this has worked for us.
